On Friday 10th April 2026, SpeedoMick was invited to The Tower of London to receive his British Empire Medal (BEM). He was awarded this medal for his services to charity.
He received his award, while being accompied by his granddaughter Annie, from Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London and Constable General Sir Gordon Messenger, KCB DSO OBE DL, on behalf of His Majesty the King.
SpeedoMick says -
"Today is a day I’ll never forget.
Receiving my B.E.M at the Tower of London was an emotional moment—ten years of trying to make a difference recognised in a way I never expected.
But the most special part was having my granddaughter Annie there to witness it. That meant everything and means more to me than any medal ever could.
Being surrounded by so many people who give their time to help others was truly humbling. It reminded me that while one act might feel small, together we create something powerful.
Grateful. Proud. And more determined than ever to keep going.
The memories of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime."
