A real life Superhero

24/11/25

Once again, I am honestly blown away.

I walked into The Guide Liverpool North West Awards Gala at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool thinking I was just there for a good night out, to celebrate the incredible people in our city, hear some powerful stories, grab a free dinner, and maybe show off a few highly questionable dance moves later on.

What I wasn’t expecting was the emotional punch of the evening. Listening to the six remarkable parents who lost their beautiful children in the tragic Southport events, and who are now turning their heartbreak into a bright, inspiring legacy for Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, completely floored me. Their strength, courage and love are something I’ll never forget. Being in their presence was humbling and moving beyond words.

So when my name was suddenly called as the North West Regional Superhero Award winner, I genuinely thought they’d made a mistake or that someone was winding me up. I came to celebrate other people’s achievements, not to hear my own name booming through the speakers. I nearly dropped my fork!

What started as a night of cheering others on (and eyeing up the dessert table) turned into a moment I’ll carry with me for a long time. I left inspired, grateful, and still a bit shocked, and yes, I still threw a few shapes on the dance floor to recover.

Thank you to #liverpoolguide for your generosity, kindness and continued support over the years. It means more than you know.
Who loves ye babeeeee
